George Mason returns to action tonight against Duquesne

UPDATE:

George Mason returns to the court tonight after an 11-day layoff for final exams, hosting Duquesne. A victory tonight would give Mason its longest home court winning streak in the history of the Patriot Center. The 18-game home winning streak is currently tied for 10th longest in the nation. Also, this game marks the return of senior guard Andre Cornelius, and it will be interesting to see how many minutes he gets tonight.  Duquesne is a good shooting team but have yet to win on the road this season.  They struggle on the boards and lack size up front, giving the Patriots a clear advantage in the front court.  They also are not great at guarding the perimeter so there could be some opportunities for Mason to ignite some three-point shooting, hopefully.  I'm expecting the Patriots to come out better fundamentally, as I'm sure Paul Hewitt has stressed keeping the turnovers to a minimum, right now they are averaging 14.9 a game. Duquesne, currently has a turnover margin of +7.2, largely due to their 8 steals a game.  With the return of Cornelius and the team hopefully beginning to develop chemistry, we should see a better product on the floor going forward.  The younger players are making fewer errors but the team still needs to get stronger defensively.  Tonight provides another strong test before the CAA schedule gets into full swing.

If Acorn can give us some on-ball defense, some help handling the ball on offense, and a few treys along the way, that would be a good start.  If I were in the stands tonight, I would feel like giving him a giant BOO when he is introduced, in case he doesn't get it about how his actions affected the team and the university.  Then I would move on.

I think he'll actually end up getting a pretty loud pop when introduced... I'm going, so we'll see.

He might take the mic beforehand and say it feels good to be back here in Fairfax, VA for a cheap pop.

Random question, but maybe somebody on here can help.  I was just at TJ Maxx in Fairfax, and they had a section of UVA shirts/sweats, a big section of Tech stuff, but no Mason stuff.  Zero, zip, zilch.  WalMart isn't much better.  Anyone know why this is?

Economics... they are in business to make money. They need to make the most profit with the limited shelf space they got. If they can make more money off Mason stuff, then you will see Mason stuff there instead.

Fair enough.  But there was Vanderbilt shirts there, too.  VANDERBILT!  Are there more Vanderbilt fans in Fairfax than Mason fans?  And the Vanderbilt stuff was right next to the University of Tennessee stuff, too!

I have never seen (at least I don't remember seeing) Vandy and Tennessee stuff sold in this area. And I guess you found Vandy and Tennessee stuff in TJ Maxx, right? I don't shop at TJ Maxx much or know retailer. But my impression is that much of the merchandizes in TJ Maxx are excess products vendors try to unload. Vendors may simply produce more than they can sell or some odd products hard to sell or left over from the higher end retailers of the same mother company. Hence they found their way to TJ Maxx.
